About Dave Johnson
Dave Johnson writes about technology from his home near Seattle, Washington. He covers a variety of consumer and business technology topics, though he focuses on digital imaging and mobile computing. Dave writes PC World’s Digital Focus weekly newsletter. He’s the author of over three dozen books that include How To Use Digital Video, How to Do Everything with MP3 and Digital Music, How to Do Everything with Your Digital Camera, and How to Do Everything with Your Palm Handheld.
He’s the former editor of Mobility Magazine and Senior Editor of its sister publication, Handheld Computing Magazine. He has also been a columnist for Digital Camera Magazine and contributing editor to such historical curiosities as Home Office Computing, PC/Computing, and Computer Shopper.
Dave is an award-winning wildlife photographer as well as a PADI-certified underwater photo/underwater video scuba instructor. These days, he’s also playing drums in rock band. Says Dave: “We do block parties and weddings, as long as you don’t mind that our signature song is Death Letter.”
Dave started writing professionally in 1990, before anyone had a chance to talk him out of it. Prior to that, he had a somewhat unfocused career that included flying satellites, driving an ice cream truck, managing weapons at an Air Force base, stocking shelves at Quick Check, teaching rocket science, photographing a rock band, and writing about space penguins.
